A hello around the corner
Minji shows Yuki around the neighborhood. They greet an older neighbor, spot shops nearby, and decide to stop for milk.
Minji

SCENE 02 / 04
Turn right—or turn around?
The destination is a bakery. Minji explains the route, but Yuki takes “turn right” a little too literally. With a laugh and another explanation, she finds the bakery.
Minji
Okay, it's Teacher Minji's directions class! We're going from the convenience store to the bakery.

Okay! Walking straight!
Minji
Then turn right at the crossroads.
Yuki
Turning right! Round and round~
oreunjjogeuro dorayo! binggeulbinggeul~
Minji
Haha, don't spin around! Take the road on the right at the intersection.
Minji
Next, go past the three-way junction. The bakery's on the other side.
Yuki
This street is pretty… Straight, right, three-way junction… Wow! The bakery's right in front of me!

SCENE 03 / 04
East, west, and a shared laugh
Minji turns directions into a pointing quiz. Yuki keeps mixing them up, and soon both of them are laughing.
Minji
Now a direction quiz! Point with your hand. Which way is east?

Not that way! Over that way!
geujjok anieyo! jeojjogieyo!
Yuki

SCENE 04 / 04
Lost downtown. Found her words.
Downtown, they see a fountain in the middle of a square. Later, the map app misbehaves as they look for a bookstore. Yuki asks a passerby for directions in Korean for the first time.
Yuki
Wow, so many tall buildings! Is this downtown?
Minji
Yes, this is the center of the city. There's a fountain in the middle of that square!

Yuki
Minji, where are we?
Minji
Uh… the location on my map app is weird. It keeps spinning around.
Yuki
Is the bookstore still far?
Minji
I don't know… We're lost!
Yuki
Then should I ask someone?
Yuki
Um, excuse me. Where's the bookstore?
jeo, sillyehamnida. seojeomi eodie isseoyo?
A passerby

FROM THE ORIGINAL VIDEO · LEARNING REPLAY
Whose bag? Whose phone?
These three review turns follow the story in the original video. They practise possession and relationships. The examples do not establish new facts about the characters’ families or belongings.
Minji
This bag is my mom's. That umbrella is my dad's.
Yuki
This is Minji's phone. The map is here too.
Minji
Right. There is a photo of my family too.
A little lost, a little braver. One question opens the way.
