🌿 Hyeju’s Note · 우리 엄마 Means “My Mom,” Too
Korean often uses 우리 with family words even when English uses “my.” 우리 엄마 does not necessarily mean the listener shares the same mother.
Older-sibling words can also be used for close older people who are not relatives. Learn the family meanings first.

Today’s Key Point
- Older-sibling words depend on who is speaking: 언니/오빠 or 누나/형.
- 여동생 and 남동생 do not depend on the speaker’s gender.
- 우리 is common with family words; 제 means “my” in humble speech.
- Use the new words with familiar sentence patterns.
