Noticing Something: -네요

Learn Noticing Something: -네요 with form rules, natural examples, common mistakes, romanization, and six practice questions with answers.

Introduction / Review

React to a fresh impression with -네요. Compare a plain description, 맛있어요, with a reaction after tasting, 맛있네요. The reaction can express surprise, interest, or appreciation.

N = noun; V = action verb; A = descriptive verb. Romanization is a reading aid.

Today’s Grammar / Explanation

  1. Add 네요 to V/A stems: 오다 → 오네요; 좋다 → 좋네요; 맛있다 → 맛있네요.
  2. Final ㄹ drops: 살다 → 사네요; 멀다 → 머네요. Keep other familiar irregular stems before 네요: 춥다 → 춥네요; 듣다 → 듣네요.
  3. Past: 벌써 왔네요 (“Oh, you’re already here”). Nouns: 학생이네요; 의사네요/의사이네요.
