Realizing Something: -군요 & -는군요
Learn Realizing Something: -군요 & -는군요 with form rules, natural examples, common mistakes, romanization, and six practice questions with answers.
Introduction / Review
Use -군요 or -는군요 to react to a fact you have just realized. It often sounds reflective: “Oh, I see ….” The choice depends on the predicate type, not simply whether its stem has a final consonant.
N = noun; V = action verb; A = descriptive verb. Romanization is a reading aid.
Today’s Grammar / Explanation
- Present adjectives: A-군요, without 으: 좋다 → 좋군요; 작다 → 작군요. Present action verbs: V-는군요: 먹다 → 먹는군요; 일하다 → 일하는군요.
- A final ㄹ in an action verb drops before 는: 살다 → 사는군요. Adjectival ㄹ stays before 군요: 멀다 → 멀군요.
- Nouns: 학생이군요; 의사군요/의사이군요. Past predicates take 았/었군요: 갔군요, 바빴군요. 있다/없다 use 있군요/없군요.
