WORD PARTNERS
Words that go together
Korean words love their partners. Learn these chunks as one piece, and your sentences will sound natural right away.
약속이 있어요 / 없어요
yaksogi isseoyo / eopseoyo
I have plans / I don’t have plans
시간이 있어요?
sigani isseoyo?
Are you free? (lit. Do you have time?)
영화를 봐요
yeonghwareul bwayo
watch a movie (보다 = see / watch)
친구를 만나요
chingureul mannayo
meet a friend (the person usually takes 을/를)
공원에서 산책해요
gongwoneseo sanchaekaeyo
take a walk in the park (place + 에서)
친구하고 놀아요
chinguhago norayo

시간이 있어요? is the most natural way to ask “Are you free?” in Korean. You don’t need a separate word for “free.”
