-(으)ㄹ 것으로 보이다it appears / is expected that… (formal)
-(으)ㄹ 것으로 보이다 is a formal way to make a careful prediction: 내일은 비가 올 것으로 보입니다 (It looks like it will rain tomorrow). You’ll hear it constantly in news, weather forecasts and reports.

A situation you already know
You’re watching the evening weather forecast on Korean TV.
Heavy rain is expected across the country this weekend.
The forecaster isn’t 100% sure but bases the prediction on data. This formal ending sounds objective and careful.

Think in Korean · an English-speaker’s guide
- English news uses “is expected to”, “appears to”, “is likely to” for the same job.
- This is a listening and reading skill first: recognize it in news, then use it in presentations and TOPIK writing.
- Don’t use it with friends; it will sound like you’re reading the news.
