SCENE 01 / 04

A door to your own little room

Minji shows Yuki around the house. The bedroom door needs a push—and a new life waits on the other side.

Yuki tries the bedroom door; original artwork from Episode 03.

Minji

And this one's your room, Yuki!

Yuki

Huh? The door won't open!

Minji

Oh, please push this door forward. Like this!

SCENE 02 / 04

What is here—and what is missing?

There is furniture, but no books on the bookshelf. A sofa is in the hallway, and the clock on the wall turns out to be a mirror.

Minji shows Yuki the bed, desk and other furniture in her room; original Episode 03 artwork.

Minji

All the furniture's here. A bed, a desk, a chair…

Yuki

Wow, there's a bookshelf! But there are no books on it.

Minji

The sofa's in the hallway. It's kind of old. But it's comfy!

Yuki

Oh, it's not a clock. It's a mirror! Hello, Mr. Mirror! This is my room now!

SCENE 03 / 04

Unpacking, with a little help

Yuki puts away her clothes and spreads the blanket. When the internet will not connect, Junho helps her out.

Yuki unpacks a suitcase while Minji holds a clothes hanger; original Episode 03 artwork.

Yuki · to herself

Blanket's all set! Now the internet… Huh? It won't connect!

Yuki

Yay, it works! Thank you!

SCENE 04 / 04

A noisy night, a cozy ending

Junho sings next door, keeping Yuki awake. After she speaks up and he apologizes, her new room finally feels peaceful.

Yuki lies awake under her blanket, listening to the noise next door; original Episode 03 artwork.

Yuki · to herself

What's that sound? I can hear singing next door.

Yuki

Junho! It's too loud! It's nighttime now!

Yuki · inner thought

It's warm under the blanket. And cozy. Good night, Yuki…

Good night, Yuki. This little room is yours now.

FROM THE STORY TO YOUR OWN WORDS

Make room for your own words.

Say what is here, what is missing, and what something is not.

01

Small words for your own space.

01FROM THE ORIGINAL DIALOGUE

There are no books on the bookshelf.

Yuki has a bookshelf, but no books in it yet. 없어요 tells us something is absent. 책장에 gives the location; 책이 names the missing thing.

02FROM THE ORIGINAL DIALOGUE

The sofa is in the hallway.

Minji answers Yuki’s question about the sofa. 있어요 says it is there, and 복도에 tells us where. The sofa is not missing from the whole house.

03FROM THE ORIGINAL DIALOGUE

It is not a clock. It is a mirror!

Yuki corrects what she first thought the object was. 아니에요 means “is not a noun.” It does not mean that the object is absent.

02

Here. Missing. Something else.

TODAY’S GRAMMAR

Use 있어요 when something is there and 없어요 when it is absent. Use N이/가 아니에요 to correct what something is: 시계가 아니에요.

Something is here → 책상이 있어요.
Something is missing →
It is not that thing →

Choose 이 after a final consonant and 가 after a vowel: 책이 / 의자가. Add 에 to a location: 책장에 책이 없어요. The location comes before 있어요 or 없어요.

QUESTION

ANSWER

What is in the room? → There is a desk.

Companion practice based on the room scene. 있어요 says something exists. 책상 ends in a consonant, so use 책상이.

The sofa is in the hallway, so it is not absent from the whole house. 없어요 describes absence in a context; 아니에요 describes what something is not. The correct spelling is 아니에요. The longer nighttime lines are for story comprehension, not this quiz.
