Where You Put It: N에다가
Learn Where You Put It: N에다가 with form rules, natural examples, common mistakes, romanization, and six practice questions with answers.
Introduction / Review
에다가 can emphasize the place where something is put, written, attached, or added. It can also introduce an addition. Begin with concrete destinations for an action, such as putting a book on a desk.
N = noun; V = action verb; A = descriptive verb. Romanization is a reading aid.
Today’s Grammar / Explanation
- Attach 에다가 directly to a noun: 책상에다가, 공책에다가, 커피에다가. Final consonants do not change the particle.
- Use a suitable action: 놓다 (put), 쓰다 (write), 넣다 (put in), 붙이다 (attach). Compare 책상에 책이 있어요, a plain location statement.
- In a suitable context, 에다가 can mark addition: 커피에다가 빵도 주문했어요 (“I ordered bread in addition to coffee”). 도 helps make the additive reading clear.
