Things You Did: V-(으)ㄴ N

Learn Things You Did: V-(으)ㄴ N with form rules, natural examples, common mistakes, romanization, and six practice questions with answers.

Introduction / Review

Describe a noun through a completed action: the food you ate, the place you visited, or the book you read. Compare 먹는 음식 (food you eat) with 먹은 음식 (food you ate).

N = noun; V = action verb; A = descriptive verb. Romanization is a reading aid.

Today’s Grammar / Explanation

  1. Vowel + ㄴ: 가다 → 간 곳; 보다 → 본 영화. Consonant + 은: 먹다 → 먹은 음식; 읽다 → 읽은 책.
  2. Final ㄹ drops: 만들다 → 만든 음식. Irregulars include 듣다 → 들은 음악 and 걷다 → 걸은 길.
  3. The modifier comes before the noun: 어제 산 가방. The final predicate determines what you say about it: 어제 산 가방이 예뻐요.
